Turning Challenges into Opportunities: A CNCTech Product Story

Though it appears simple and ordinary, it tells an intriguing story of customer trust, supplier support and effort, the leadership team's commitment to investing in production improvements to solve customer issues, and the persistence and creativity of our technical team.

This product was developed in 2022 when a client shared that their end customer was facing challenges in product development in another country. CNCTech’s client expressed interest in developing this product in Vietnam, specifically with CNCTech. However, they had concerns because CNCTech had no prior experience with this type of stainless steel casting product. Additionally, stainless steel billet suppliers in Vietnam were in the early stages of development, primarily producing simple consumer goods and lacking experience in high-precision and high-quality machine parts (free of porosity).

Product Characteristics:

• Complex contours and uneven thickness, prone to porosity and deformation during casting and machining.
• High tolerance requirements for position, flatness, and perpendicularity, necessitating specialized machinery to minimize setup steps.

Challenges Encountered:

• Reluctance from suppliers: Most suppliers were unwilling to take on this complex product, as they were accustomed to simpler, low-tech consumer goods.
• Investment in 4-axis machines: Required to reduce setups and ensure tolerances, but the machines were expensive.
• Specialized tooling: Needed to maintain uniform tolerances for holes and threads, adding to the cost.

We addressed each challenge systematically to create a complete manufacturing process that met customer requirements. In doing so, we not only delivered a successful product but also expanded our company’s capabilities into a new manufacturing category.
